Over the past 9 weeks we have taken an in-depth look at the Fruit of the Spirit. Our guiding theme has been LIGHT. Jesus said: “I am the LIGHT of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the LIGHT of life.” (John 8:12)
Following this theme, our background images over the past 9 weeks have featured light.
- a vast array of different lighthouses
- a vast array of different candles
- gentle burning oil lamps
- light at the end of the tunnel
- light shining down into caves
- pathway lighting, cellphone lighting, headlamp lighting
- light from lamp posts
- light from sunrises
- light filtering through the thickness of wildfire smoke
All of these lights have been vastly different. Yet they each illuminate darkness … in their own unique, individual way. They each shine the light.
So also, God has made us each different. We come from different backgrounds. We have different formative experiences. We have different personalities, preferences, interests. We have different skills, talents, abilities. God has given us each the task of illuminating the darkness.
In our own unique individual way, and in our own unique individual place, we each shine the LIGHT of Jesus!
Today’s background photo is a Chihuly chandelier in the entryway of a home. This chandelier is one-of-a-kind. It was handmade … specific and unique for this location. So also, each one of us is one-of-a-kind … handmade by God … specific and unique for the exact location He has placed us. There is no one else just like you!
“You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;” -Psalm 139:13-14
Tomorrow, we will begin a new series looking at our Identity … who God has made us to be; who we are in Christ.
