It has now been two weeks since the wedding in our backyard. At the time, it all went so fast that on this side of it it’s hard to realize all that excitement happened! … in our quiet backyard!
Yesterday afternoon I went back and rewatched the video from the wedding. It was so beautiful!
Marriage is so very special (and sacred!) because it is a picture of Jesus and his Bride (everyone who believes in Jesus and loves & follows Him).
One of the most special moments of the wedding in our backyard was when the Father walked the beautiful bride down the aisle. Everyone stood! It was a very very special moment!
The pastor asked the question: “Who gives this bride to this groom?”
And the Father gave the beautiful bride to the beaming groom.
Marriage is so very special (and sacred!) because it is a picture of Jesus and his Bride.
God the Father … gives the beautiful bride (everyone who believes in Jesus Christ) … to the groom Jesus!
“Then Jesus declared, … ‘All that the Father gives me will come to me.” – John 6:35, 37
“And this is the will of Him [the Father] who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.’” – John 6:39-40
“Father, I want those you have given me [my Bride] to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.” – John 17:24
“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” – Ephesians 5:25-27
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery – but I am talking about Christ and the church.” – Ephesians 5:31-32

If you believe that Jesus Christ is fully God, and that as fully God and absolutely perfect, he gave his life to pay the penalty for sin that you owe to God, in order to rescue you from sin … if you believe in Jesus Christ and accept his free gift of salvation … then you too are part of the Bride of Christ.
If you love and follow Jesus Christ … then you have been given by God the Father … to the groom Jesus!
Marriage is a picture of Jesus Christ and his Bride!
