Over the past 2 ½ months we have been pondering the question: What is the gateway to Heaven? How can I get to Paradise? This question has led us on a journey through each book of the Bible.
Throughout our journey, we have seen:
* All 39 books of the Old Testament pointed forward to Jesus Christ, the promised Savior, who would one day come to take care of the sin problem and open the gateway to Heaven.
* All 27 books of the New Testament point back to Jesus Christ, the promised Savior, who indeed did come! Jesus came and was crucified to pay the penalty for sin! Jesus has now opened wide the gateway to Heaven!
The overarching message of the entire Bible is: Jesus Christ alone is the Gateway to Heaven!
As we wrap-up our thoughts, let’s consider this question: Who is Jesus?
– Jesus left his exalted place of honor in heaven, to come down to the hardships of earth … to rescue us from sin. – Philippians 2:5-8; John 6:38; Galatians 4:4-5
– Jesus was rich in Heaven, yet He gave it all up to become poor on earth, in order to conquer sin and make the riches of salvation available for us. – 2 Corinthians 8:9
– Jesus is the Son of God from Heaven, who humbled Himself by becoming human, who suffered for us, and who has now been exalted to Heaven. – Philippians 2:5-11
– Jesus came to earth as God in flesh, with a human body. – 1 Timothy 3:16
– Jesus is eternal … existing before time with the Father … and having come to earth. – 1 John 1:2
