My son texted me: “A bit of interior festivity, with my mini nativity.” The accompanying photo featured a strand of colorful Christmas lights draping up, over, and across his fireplace mantel, while a small nativity graced the hearth.
Of course, I had to respond with a photo of the “interior festivity” at my house.
I texted my son the below photo, with this message: “My festive interior decorations!”
Last year I wrote a blog post about how the Aloe was trying to be a “Christmas cactus.” (you can read it here: The Gift of Christmas … Love & Acceptance! – Daily Blessing )
Would you believe that, yet again, the Aloe is still trying to be a Christmas cactus!? This year it is all decked out with a light-up Christmas necklace from the recent wedding send-off. And not only that, it is brazenly standing right in front of the real Christmas cactus! Blocking all the beautiful blooms of the real Christmas cactus. The nerve!
This is what Christmas looks like at my house! Ha!
I sent my son yet another photo of my “festive interior decorations” …
We have an inside family joke about the “Ice Cap” ornament. This past summer my two kids were attempting to educate me on the modern phrases their generation uses nowadays. If something is really amazing and awesome, rather than saying: “Wow! No way! That’s amazing!” … the new modern phraseology is: “Wow! No cap!”
In an attempt to use the modern phraseology, I kept forgetting exactly how it went. And instead, whenever something was really amazing, I would say, with great gusto: “Ice cap!”
Which was totally hilarious to my kids!
This past Thanksgiving, as we were painting little wooden circles to decorate our outside Lodgepole pine “Christmas trees” my daughter made this special “Ice cap!” ornament just for me! I was delighted!
So it is now a center piece of our “interior festivity.”
And of course Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without the Chick-fil-A elf-cow. As you can tell, I really went all-out on the Christmas decorating this year! This is what Christmas looks like at my house!
I had just texted the above photos to my son … when a delivery driver showed up with a package for us. I went to the front door to retrieve the package, and lo and behold … the delivery driver had left the package underneath the Christmas tree! I was so delighted! I had been hoping that would happen!

A few blog posts ago I shared about my favorite watercolor artist, Sarah Clementson. We always get her watercolor-print calendar each year.
The painting for this month features a shop in Pike Place Market (DeLaurenti) which sells fabulous Italian Panettone Christmas desserts. Every day throughout this month of December I have gazed at this delightfully festive scene, of all the Panettone cakes stacked up in displays and hanging from the ceiling by ribbons.
After days of gazing at such a wonderful Christmassy scene, one can’t help but come to the conclusion that Christmas just wouldn’t be complete without a Panettone cake.
TaDa!! It just so happens that Costco sells Panettone cakes! This is what Christmas looks like at my house!
With the year 2023 coming to an end, Christmas is a time for a brand-new calendar! Yay for my favorite watercolor-print calendar, for a brand-new year!
This is what Christmas looks like at my house!
What about you?? What does Christmas look like at your house?
