Here are a few final photos from Diablo Dam … tying in with thoughts on how Jesus is the Rock Foundation upon which God’s Kingdom is built!
Here you can see the narrow gorge of water at the base of Diablo Dam. This brought to mind Jesus’s words in Matthew 7:14 – “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life.” Jesus is the only way to eternal life. It is a narrow way. Jesus alone … and nothing else.
In thinking about Jesus – the Rock Foundation upon which God’s Kingdom is built – the prophecy which Daniel received more than 500 years before Jesus came and lived on the earth also described Jesus as being a Rock.
“The God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands – a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.” – Daniel 2:44-45
“His dominion is an eternal dominion;
His kingdom endures from generation to generation.
All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing.
He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth.
No one can hold back his hand or say to him: ‘What have you done?’
“Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. All those who walk in pride he is able to humble.”
– Daniel 4:34-37
“Then the sovereignty, power and greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be handed over to the saints, the people of the Most High. His kingdom will be an everlasting kingdom, and all rulers will worship and obey him.” – Daniel 7:27
“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power.” – 1 Chronicles 29:11-12
