The measure of a life …

The measure of a life …

Today’s Word of Wisdom is in honor of our dear friend Lloyd who recently went home to be with Jesus.

Lloyd was jolly, jovial, and generous!

*  He found great delight in treating hubby, me, and our daughter out to brunch at his favorite breakfast place, The Family Pancake House … where we could have the special privilege of enjoying his favorite! – Swedish pancakes!  (with lingonberry preserves!)

*  Lloyd found great delight in leaving his WWII Navy hat “prominently” placed on the edge of the table whenever eating out, so that the server couldn’t help but notice (haha!)  …  and of course he could be sure to get his veteran’s discount.

*  Lloyd found great delight in Sunday evening Hymn-Sings!  …  especially when his good friends the Tutmarc’s were leading the singing and playing the Hawaiian steel guitar!

*  Lloyd found great delight in joking about the Christmas song which states:  “ … to kids from one to ninety-two.”   With a twinkle in his eye, he would ask, “What about me?   I’ve passed 92  …  does that mean I don’t count in that??”

Lloyd’s life was blessed with duration  …  he lived to be 99 years old!

But more than that, Lloyd’s life was a blessing by its donation!    He graciously and generously poured out his life to love on other people!

Just as the water is pouring over these falls, so also what are you pouring your life out for?

“The measure of a life, after all, is not its duration, but its donation.”    – Corrie ten Boom
