The Groom!

The Groom!

Yesterday’s blog post considered how marriage is a picture of Jesus and his Bride (everyone who believes in Jesus and loves & follows Him).

In marriage, God the Father is the one who gives the Bride to the groom – Jesus.

In yesterday’s blog post we saw Jesus’s prayer to the Father, concerning his Bride:  “Father, I want those you have given me [my Bride] to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.”  – John 17:24

If you believe that Jesus is fully God and that he gave his life to pay the penalty for sin that you owe to God, in order to rescue you from sin  …  if you believe in Jesus Christ and accept his free gift of salvation  … then you too are part of the Bride of Christ.

The Bride (everyone who believes in Jesus Christ)  is currently waiting for the Groom.   Jesus, the Groom, is right now in Heaven preparing a place for his Bride.    And he will return to take his Bride to be with him in Heaven forever!   (John 14:1-3)

What will this be like??

Jesus has given us a tiny peek into heaven, to give us a glimpse of what He is like in all his glory as our wonderful Groom!

“I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me.  And when I turned, I saw someone like a son of man [Jesus],  dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest.   His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.  His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters.”

“He placed his right hand on me and said:  ‘Do not be afraid.  I am the First and the Last.  I am the Living One;  I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever!  And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”    – Revelation 1:12-15, 17-18

This past weekend hubby and I and our daughter drove out Highway 2 into the Cascades to see a magnificent waterfall!   As we stood in awe of the intense power and the overwhelming sound of the mighty rushing water  …  I couldn’t help but think:  this is what our Groom’s voice is like!   When our Groom comes for us, his voice will be like the sound of mighty rushing water!

I took this 15 second video to share with you the sound of mighty rushing water!

Turning to look downstream, the mighty rushing water continues on its way!

Just below the footbridge, the mighty rushing water flows on!

“The voice of the LORD is over the waters;  the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.  The voice of the LORD is powerful;  the voice of the LORD is majestic.   The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;  the LORD is enthroned as King forever.”   – Psalm 29:3-4, 10

One more 30 second video clip: Deception Falls 2 (youtube.com)

Further downstream, the mighty rushing water flowed on, as a swift rushing powerful force! So loud that it was almost impossible to have a conversation. This right here is what our Groom’s voice is like! Jesus – in his glory!
