The Daily Question …

The Daily Question …

Back in 2018 I was listening to an online sermon by Pastor Steven  …  it was a New Year’s Eve sermon …  and the main thought of the sermon was this question:   “God, what can You do through me today?”

I loved that thought.

I wrote it down in my journal.

And I have pondered this question often since then.    God, what can You do through me today?

In 2020 I was working on a special project for which I needed small “question-mark” stickers.    In the end, the project I was working on turned out perfect  …  but afterwards, I had 1 ½ sheets of these small “question-mark” stickers left over.

What does one do with “question-mark” stickers??

They aren’t exactly the thing to put on the back flap of an envelope when mailing birthday cards to people.

So the 1 ½ sheets of “question-mark” stickers have sat in my drawer for a couple of years now.

Recently, it suddenly occurred to me what I can do with the 1 ½ sheets of “question-mark” stickers!

TaDa!!

I was so excited about my idea that I started a few days before the month of September even began!

I am using the “question-mark” stickers as prayer prompts for myself, as I pray each day for the most precious people in my life.

First thing in the morning, as I come into the kitchen to start my day, I put a “question-mark” sticker on that particular day of the calendar  …  one “question-mark” for each of my most precious people.

And as I do, I ask the question:  “God, what are You going to do through their life today?”    (and I name each of my precious people by name!)

As the day progresses, the calendar sits there on my kitchen counter  …  and as I come and go, to and fro throughout the kitchen busy with my daily tasks, my eye catches sight of the calendar  …  and in each of those moments, I’m drawn into prayer for each of my precious people, as I ask:  “God what are You right now at work doing through their life today?”

It has been a wonderful way to pray for the most precious people in my life!

I am a very visual person.    God demonstrates His truths the clearest to me through object lessons  …  hence why most of what I write about for the blog are different object lesson God has shown me.

In the same way, I also find objects to be a very powerful tool as prayer prompts.

If you struggle in your prayer life, might I suggest using prayer prompts.    Some small object which you associate with a particular person or a matter of importance which you are praying about.

As you go about your normal days, whenever you see that small item it can bring to your mind that particular person or that matter of importance  …  and in that instant it can remind you to pray for them!  …  at that very moment!

Over  …  and over  …  and over  …  throughout the day  …  …  …   whenever you see that “prayer prompt.”

This is what the calendar with “question-mark” stickers is for me.

This is what it looks like to “pray without ceasing.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18  –  “Be joyful always;  pray continually;  give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
