Alas, I have come to the end of the jar of peanut butter. This means the opening of a new jar of peanut butter … and the resulting effort required to stir the layer of oil (which has separated out) back into the peanut butter.
As much as I enjoy all natural, organic peanut butter, I do not enjoy the effort of stirring up a new jar of peanut butter. Invariably the oil accidentally spills out over the side and makes a mess. It takes muscle, and my arm aches afterwards.
As I stir up the new jar of peanut butter, 2 Timothy 1:6 runs through my mind: “Stir up the gift of God, which is in you.” (KJV)
“I’m stirring God. I’m stirring!”
Do you ever feel this way about your Christian life?
“I’m stirring God. I’m stirring! But this is so much work!“
These gifts and talents and abilities … they’ve been given by God for a purpose … for a reason. There are good works which God has specifically prepared for me to do. It takes work! It takes effort.
It’s hard! It takes perseverance.
Keep stirring!
Stir up the gift that God has given you!
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10
