Sometimes love feels lonely.

Sometimes love feels lonely.

Sometimes love feels lonely.  In the photo below you can see Heceta Head Light perched high on a bluff across the way.  Or … can you see it??   If you look closely at the very center of the photo, you can just make out the beam of light from the lighthouse.   This is the way love feels sometimes.

Rock solid, shining out through the gloom … yet, at the same time, feeling so very alone, almost swallowed up by the fog of life.

Such as … when that special someone in our life has to travel for work.  Endless weeks away.  Love is rock solid.  Love is shining the way back home.  And yet, at the same time, it is lonely.

Or … when that precious person in our life is desperately ill.  And we sit by their bedside in the hospital, holding their hand through the pain.  Love says – “I’m here!”   Rock solid, shining a beacon through the gloom … and yet, it’s lonely.

Or … when our kids sail off to distant horizons in search of their exciting future that’s out there.  And high on the bluff love remains … rock solid!  Shining the beacon!  Shining out through the fog.   It can feel lonely.

Love is rock solid!  Love is steadfast!  But, at the same time there are season of life when it can also feel lonely.
