Seasons

Seasons

All of nature operates according to seasons:  seasons of planting, seasons of new life emerging, seasons of growth, seasons of waiting, seasons of fruitfulness/harvest, seasons of rest.

So too life itself operates according to seasons.   In our life we have seasons where we likewise are “planting” (metaphorically speaking).  We have seasons where new things are just beginning for us!  (new job, new baby, new city, new opportunity, etc.)  We have seasons of “growth”  …  where things are just plugging along.  We have seasons of waiting.  We have seasons of fruitfulness where things are going really good!  (job is going good, company is going good!  etc. …)  And we have seasons of rest.

Oftentimes we find ourselves in one “season” of life wishing it would hurry up so we can get to the next “season” of life!

However – each season is important!

Each season has its own unique frustrations, struggles, challenges, and joys!   Each season is important!

Each season has a purpose with something to teach us.   If we rush through one season, we might miss the lessons we need to learn, which are preparing us for the next season.

Nature has seasons of rain;  seasons of drought;  seasons of fire;  seasons of flood;  seasons of storm  (aka:  hurricane season).    So too in our life we will likewise face seasons of suffering;  seasons of setbacks;  seasons of loss.   Every season has something important to teach us.  Every season is making us stronger.  Every season is making us into the person we need to be for the next season.

The lessons which we are learning today (in this season) we will desperately need tomorrow!

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are His. He changes times and seasons.” – Daniel 2:20-21
