Ringing in the New Year – 2025!

Last year, as the new year was ushered in, I did a blog post entitled:  “Ringing in the New Year!”   I thought it would be fun to carry on the tradition by “Ringing in the New Year – 2025”!

These two plants, for this year’s spotlight, I have never listened to before with my Plant Wave.

The first plant actually belongs to my daughter.   It was a gift from her very dear special friend.   She decided it might do better at our house, so I am currently “plant sitting” it for her.

I have been enjoying listening to this plant’s “song” all morning this morning.   Because it is an indoor plant, I can plug it in and turn it on and just listen to it whenever and however long I would like.   It makes for delightful background music.

This video clip is about 30 seconds long:

As I have been “playing this plant” as my background music this morning I noticed a few times that whenever there was a startling jarring sound of some sort (like the jarring sound of the microwave door closing, etc. …) it seemed as if the “jar” was reflected in the “music” of the plant.

I couldn’t help wondering if the plant’s “song” might perhaps be different if it was in a home where there was a lot of tension and stress.

Our home is very peaceful and calm  …  therefore, the “song” of the plant this morning has been very calm and peaceful.   But if I were to take this plant and put it in a home where the people living there were arguing with each other and angry at each other, I’m curious if the “song” of the plant would in turn be a lot more “disturbed” and less peaceful.

As I was pondering on these things, these verses in Proverbs popped into my mind:

*   “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”  – Proverbs 14:30

*   “Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome person.”   – Proverbs 21:9

*   “Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered person.”  – Proverbs 21:19

The Bible is clear that there are distinct healing benefits of having a calm, peaceful heart/mind as well as a calm, peaceful home. I think that plants in a stressful environment filled with tension would suffer in much the same way the people of that environment would suffer. That’s just my personal opinion.

Here is a Mexican Orange plant growing in the flowerbed right below our back deck.   I am particularly fond of the three Mexican Orange plants we have.   They are a tenacious plant!   They are hardy!   They can go through a lot and persevere!   I like this about this plant!

We planted two Mexican Orange plants at the very first home we owned.   I loved them!   They have beautiful fragrant white blooms in the Springtime.   Then we moved  …  and we left them behind.

Hubby and I re-bought Mexican Orange plants for the third home we owned.   Then we moved  …  and we had to leave them behind as well.

Now, where we currently live, we have once again re-bought Mexican Orange plants.   They first started out in the front flowerbeds.   Then were moved to the back.  Through all the ups and down they have persevered and are still growing!

Here we have the Mexican Orange’s “song” ringing in the New Year of 2025:  (this is also about a 30 second clip)

Thank you God for plant “songs”!

Thank you God for a new year to serve you!
