Prepare the Way!

Prepare the Way!

It’s time!

Spring is here … the plants are beginning to come back to life.  Now is the time.  It’s time to prepare the way.

Move the huge boulders from out of the way.
Pull up the blackberry vines and briars!
Level out the ground.
Lay down weed-blocker.
Gather gravel for the pathway.

It’s time to prepare the way.

The last book of the Old Testament, the book of Malachi, stated this promise:  “See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me.”   – Malachi 3:1

The promised Savior is coming!  The promised Savior who will break down the sin barrier!  The promised Savior who will open the gateway to Heaven!

Then the Old Testament closed.  …

The New Testament opens.

“The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  It is written in Isaiah the prophet:  ‘I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way’ – a voice of one calling in the desert, “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.”’”   – Mark 1:1-3

It’s time!   Jesus, the promised Savior, is here!  It’s time to prepare the way!

“The word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.  He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.  As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet:  ‘A voice of one calling in the desert, “Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.  Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low.  The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.   And all mankind will see God’s salvation.’”   – Luke 3:2-6   (see Isaiah 40:3-5)

It’s time!
Move the huge boulders out of the way!
Pull up the briars!
Level out the ground!

It’s time to prepare the way!   Jesus is here!
