This little sunflower in the window is solar powered. It is facing outside, and waving back and forth with the sun’s energy. So also, the light of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, empowers us … so that we, just like this little sunflower, have the strength and power to do what God has made us to do.
But what about when the sun is not shining? What about when the winter rains arrive? Will the little sunflower in the window still wave back and forth then??
Yes! Yes, it does.
Believe it or not, no matter the rain … or the fog drifting up from the valley … or the low blanket of grey clouds … this little sunflower in the window still waves back and forth! It might not be waving back and forth as dynamically … but it is still waving nonetheless! The power from the sun is still getting through!
So also, when it comes to the fog in our lives … and the heavy grey clouds hanging low and blanketing everything … the light of God’s Son, Jesus Christ, still gets through it all! The light of Jesus still reaches us, right where we are … and empowers us to do what He has called us to do!
Isaiah 43:1-2,5 – “But now, this is what the LORD says – He who created you, He who formed you: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you … Do not be afraid, for I am with you.’”
