Perfection Not Required

Perfection Not Required

I have two blue antique Mason jars which once belonged to my Grandmother.  They are special to me, and I love to use them as vases.

I was noticing, just the other day, the little imperfections and air bubbles in the glass which make it so authentically “antique.”  It seemed rather ironic … considering the jar is proudly stamped with the title “Perfect Mason.”

It made me think how we all are like these antique Mason jars.  Everywhere we turn nowadays we see images of what “perfect” is supposed to look like.  We can’t help but feel pressure to be “perfect” too.

But we aren’t perfect.  We each have our own individual “flaws” and “imperfections.”

The thing about my Grandmother’s blue antique Mason jars is that I don’t mind at all that they aren’t actually “perfect.”  The fact that there are air bubbles and imperfections in the glass is proof that the jar is authentically antique.  It’s not a modern fake.  It’s real.

The same thing is true when it comes to life.  Jesus invites us to give our life to Him … imperfections, flaws, and all.  Jesus redeems us and calls us His own!  Jesus stamps His seal of “Perfect” all over us … just like my little blue “Perfect Mason” jar.

Then Jesus uses our life for something beautiful … just like my little blue jar.
