Our God is a warrior!

Our God is a warrior!

Yesterday I was perusing the different images in the graphics program I use, and I came across this fantastic image of the Red Sea Crossing!   Isn’t it terrific!

So, for today’s blog post I wanted to take a look at the Song of Moses, from Exodus chapter 15.

“I will sing to the LORD, for he is highly exalted.
The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.

“The LORD is my strength and my song;
He has become my salvation.

“He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

“The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name.”
– Exodus 15:1-5

The Israelites have just filed through the Red Sea to safety and Pharaoh’s army has drowned in the overwhelming crashing backwash of the waters!   Moses states that the LORD is a warrior.   Picture this in your mind  …  picture the Egyptian warriors – tough battle-hardened soldiers!   Picture tough muscular warriors decked out in battle armor  …  with sharp blades in their hands!

Picture these hardened tough warriors coming with the intent to slaughter!

Now picture another warrior  …  the LORD!  [Jesus Christ]    Picture this warrior [Jesus Christ] tough and muscular, decked out in battle armor, wielding a sharp blade!    Picture in your mind, this warrior bloodied from the conflict!    This warrior is powerful!   This warrior has prowess!

Now picture in your mind what these Israelites were seeing in front of their eyes  …  hundreds of bodies of tough battle-hardened soldiers washing up on the shore  …  dead.

Exodus 15 continues:

“Pharaoh’s chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea.”
(Picture in your mind the powerful, muscular, sword-wielding warrior [Jesus Christ] doing this!)

“The best of Pharaoh’s officers are drowned in the Red Sea.
The deep waters have covered them;
They sank to the depths like a stone.

“Your right hand, O LORD, was majestic in power.
Your right hand, O LORD, shattered the enemy.
In the greatness of your majesty you threw down those who oppose you.”

“You unleashed your burning anger;
It consumed them like stubble.

“By the blast of your nostrils the waters piled up.
The surging waters stood firm like a wall.

“The enemy boasted, ‘I will pursue, I will overtake them.
I will divide the spoils;
I will gorge myself on them.
I will draw my sword and my hand will destroy them.’

“But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them.
They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

“Who among the gods is like you, O LORD?
Who is like you – majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory,
working wonders?”

– Exodus 15:4-11

This is the same warrior Jesus Christ whom we serve today!

This is the same warrior Jesus Christ who is fighting for us today!
This is the same warrior Jesus Christ who is protecting us today!

This is the same warrior Jesus Christ who will conquer all evil and evildoers!

This is the same warrior Jesus Christ who is coming back to judge the living and the dead.
