One of the great joys in my life is when my kids share with me their favorite new songs which they are listening to.
My kids have completely different musical artists whom they enjoy listening to, so it’s a lot of fun to hear new music from artists I am not familiar with.
Evan Craft is one such musician. My son has been listening to Evan Craft for several years and really enjoys his original worship songs. Recently my son shared with me Evan Craft’s newest album. I immediately fell in love with the song: Good Neighbor.
Good Neighbor is such a “November joys” song! It is so full of life and enthusiasm and joy! It speaks to all the things that make November special: friends & family, enjoying good food and fun times around the table!
The lyrics are as follows:
“We may not look the same
We might talk different too
Got a long long list of differences
Between me and you
Different colors different stories
Even different politics
But He’s calling us now to lay it all down
Get back to the heart of it
And be a good, good, good, good,
Good neighbor
Learn to love each other
With the love of the Savior
Make room at the table
And share the hope that we’ve got
And be a good, good, good neighbor
And show the world we’ve got a good God.
I’ve read the Good Book
Every word in black and red
But is my faith alive if I live my life
And I don’t do what it says
Love your God with all your heart and soul
Love your neighbor as yourself
And be Jesus to a broken world
That’s crying out for help
And be a good, good, good, good,
Good neighbor
Learn to love each other
With the love of the Savior
Make room at the table
And share the hope that we’ve got
And be a good, good, good neighbor
And show the world we’ve got a good God.
There’s room for everybody in the family of God.
There’s room for everybody in the family of God.
Make room at the table Share the hope that we’ve got.
There’s room for everybody in the family of God.”

(I am totally that person who dances in the kitchen when I come across great new music I love! Haha!)
My cactus has been leaning … and leaning … and leaning. (I need to transplant it so that it doesn’t eventually wind up falling completely out of its pot!) Whenever I glance over and see my leaning cactus, I can’t help but think that it looks like each one of us … reaching out! … reaching out for friendship and connection!
Every one of us is just like this! Reaching out for friendship! Reaching out for connection with each other!
We need each other!
Let us each be a Good Neighbor to each other … because we all are reaching out!
Thank you God for November joys! Thank you for great new music! … a wonderful gift shared by my son.
And thank you God inviting us to be a Good Neighbor to those all around us, because all of us are reaching out for friendship and connection!
