A small patch of these mushrooms sprang up in the grass just out from the kitchen window. I have never seen mushrooms quite like this before. Immediately the passage in Psalm 91:1 came to mind:
“He/she who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. … God will cover you … and underneath his wings you will find refuge.” – Psalm 91:1,4

At the same time, this verse also came to mind:
“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” – Deuteronomy 33:27

God loves us!
God covers us!
We can rest securely in God’s love for us!
We can rest securely in God’s covering, God’s care, and God’s protection over us.
“The LORD watches over you – the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm – the LORD will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” – Psalm 121:5-8

God is the standard for what love is. Therefore, if we love like God does then our love will look like this also.
Hubby’s love for me looks like this. I rest securely in hubby’s love for me. Hubby covers me, hubby cares for me, hubby protects me.
In the same way, my love for my children looks like this. Especially when my kids were little, I was very protective and “covering” of my kids!
As my kids grew up through elementary years, middle school years, high school years … as they left home and went away to college … as they launched out into the world in their own careers … my kids have rested securely in my love for them! Just like this, my kids know I love them!
God is the standard for what love is.
God covers us!
We can rest securely in God’s love for us!
We can rest securely in God’s covering, God’s care, and God’s protection over us.
And … in the same way, when it comes to us loving others … love covers!
