The thing about splitting logs is that the more knotty the rounds, the more violently-forceful the result! Just the sound of the “crack!” as the round splits can be downright frightening! Especially when your face is right down next to the round, as you press the buttons.
This is life! Life is knotty. Life is difficult. Life is pressure. And the results can be downright frightening … especially when you are right there in the middle of it all, doing what God has called you to do.
And then when you get “hit” unexpectedly by the resulting force of it all … it makes you very leery to get back down there and keep pressing those buttons again.
Getting “hit” in life leaves you very nervous and leery to trust anyone, or anything, ever again.
But God has given us breath and life for a purpose. We are here for a reason. So we keep “pressing the log-splitter button” … in spite of our fears.
We keep giving our best … in spite of being mistreated.
We keep loving others … in spite of being taken advantage of.
We keep doing what God has called us to do … in spite of the trials life throws at us.
Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”
Matthew 5:11-12 – “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.”
Matthew 10:30-31 – “Even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid.”
Matthew 11:28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
