I was sitting calmly on the back deck enjoying the sunshine when the gravel on the front drive crunched … then the doorbell rang. Much to my surprise it was my neighbor down the street, whom I had never met (though she and her husband had met my hubby a few months back). She had been working out in her yard digging up and dividing her yellow irises and had an entire garden-wagon of leftover iris rhizomes which she did not need. She offered them to me.
I was delighted!!
We have never grown irises before, though irises have a special place in my heart. The town where we lived when our babies were born would always have an Iris Festival Parade every year. So irises hold fond memories for me. 😊
Blessings!
God’s blessings are like that. Many times they show up unannounced and unexpected.
And many times, God’s blessings come with a work order. This was certainly the case with my wonderful iris blessings from my sweet neighbor. The corner of the yard which would be the perfect place for planting all these wonderful iris blessings was overrun by blackberry briars and weeds!
So, I set to work right away clearing the area in order to plant my “blessings.” Here you can see a photo of the pile of weeds which I cleared. Needless to say, it will take several weeks’ worth of Yard-Waste collection to carry off all that weed debris.
It was exhausting. It was a lot of work! But God’s blessings are like that … blessings come with a work order. And many times, an expiration date as well. If I had not gotten the iris rhizomes planted in a timely manner, they would not have lasted.
Blessings come with a work order … and … an expiration date!
