Deception Pass is a very dangerous area. Roiling eddies can catch the unsuspecting in spins, dragging them off course.
The same is true with Satan’s deception. Oftentimes, we are caught off guard by hurtful words or actions from others. It feels like we’ve been caught in a spinning eddy! … we’re dragged off course. We wind up broken … and hurt! … and tossed on the rocks.
The bridge of forgiveness seems so high … too high for us to reach.
But we aren’t left all alone on the rocks below. God, in His great love, has given us His Holy Spirit.
It is the power of the Holy Spirit which lifts us up from the rocks below and gives us the strength to be able to pass over the “bridge of forgiveness.”
Forgiveness is not something we can do. Forgiveness is supernatural.
Forgiveness is something which can only be achieved by the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
How does the Holy Spirit accomplish the work of forgiveness in our life?? Primarily by the Word of God!
The Holy Spirit is the author … so naturally the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to bring about the Fruit of Righteousness in our life.
The Sword of the Spirit (which is the Word of God) will produce the Fruit of the Spirit … Forgiveness.
If you are struggling with forgiveness, read the Word of God. A good place to start, is to read about the life of Jesus Christ in the Gospels (the books of: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). Jesus is a great example when it comes to forgiveness!
