God sees what we don’t see; and helps us plan.

God sees what we don’t see; and helps us plan.

Prior to having a wood-burning fireplace heater installed, our home was heated solely using propane-gas.  We have a large propane-gas storage tank out near the woodshed.  Whenever our tank would get down to 20%, we would call the gas company and within a few days a truck would show up to refill our tank.  This happened very consistently, and we could count on it.

This winter season is the first season we have used wood to heat our home.  But only during the days.  At night, the propane-gas still heats our home.

Today’s blog post title is a quote from my pastor, Pastor Mark:  “God sees what we don’t see; and helps us plan for what we can’t plan for.”

We don’t know what the future will bring … but God does.

God is already in the future, and God will help guide and direct us … and help us plan for what we don’t know is coming.

What we didn’t know was coming was a bitterly cold month of December … with lots of snow and ice …  and extended temps down in the low 20’s.  Obviously, this requires more heat … which rapidly empties the supply of propane in the tank.

Added to this, the snow and ice prevented the propane supply trucks from being able to reach people’s homes to resupply their tanks.

If hubby and I had not installed a wood-burning fireplace heater this past summer, our gas in the tank would have run out before Christmas.  And a resupply truck would not have been able to get to us, due to the ice on the roadways.  We would have had a very cold Christmas!

Even with the supplemental heat from the fireplace, the gas in our tank was dwindling … so we called the gas company and were given a one-week window of when the resupply truck would show up.

Two weeks passed … and still no resupply truck.   Our tank ran lower and lower.  If the tank went completely empty … the pilot lights would go out … and we would have a completely different set of problems.

As we headed into the third week, I began praying every day for the resupply truck to come.

And hubby began calling the gas company.

As with every company nowadays, the gas company is short-staffed.  There simply are not enough drivers to deliver the gas that’s needed.

Yesterday the supply truck arrived!  I was SO grateful!    It took a long time to refill the tank … we must have been running on fumes!

“God sees what we don’t see; and helps us plan for what we can’t plan for.”

If we did not have supplemental heat from the fireplace heater, we would have had no heat the past several weeks.  God helped us plan for what we couldn’t plan for.  God took care of us!

There are many unknowns and potential fears as we all gaze out towards the future of this year.  Take courage … and have hope!   God is already there, in the future.  God sees what we don’t see; and helps us plan for what we can’t plan for.    God will take care of you!
