God of my peace … God of my pieces.

God of my peace … God of my pieces.

For Mother’s Day, my son gave me this gift of a wonderful Lego orchid.   I was delighted!   I couldn’t wait to put it together!

But my life has been so crazy busy recently I haven’t had time to put it together yet.

Hubby and I have recently purchased a condo, so we can move our parents to be near us.   We have been very busy getting the condo ready for the big move!   Hubby has been hanging new mini blinds, hanging curtains, installing closet shelving, etc.  …    While I have been busy wiping out all the kitchen cupboards & drawers and lining them with fresh new cupboard liner.

I had really wanted to share this blog post with photos of my Lego orchid all put together and beautifully assembled.

But here on the last day of May, as you can see  …  my wonderful Lego orchid is still in pieces.

I think this is how God wanted me to share this blog post.

Because when it comes to life itself, we don’t have our life “all put together.”   When it comes to life, life feels like it’s “in pieces.”

There were brilliantly creative people who designed my wonderful Lego orchid set.   So also, in the same way, God himself is brilliantly creative and has designed each of our lives.   Every person’s life is unique and wonderfully special!

But my life is like my Lego orchid set.
Your life is like a Lego orchid set.

Our life is “in pieces.”   Our life doesn’t come “all put together.”

It will take some time on my part to assemble my Lego orchid.   It will take focus on my part to assemble my Lego orchid.

I will have to want to.   I will have to specifically set aside the time to work on it.   I will have to put some effort into it.

I will need to read the instruction manual – so I will know what I am supposed to do.

I will need to not give up when I can’t figure it out.   I will need to keep persevering.

So also, in the same way, this is what each of our lives is like!

God has designed each of our lives to be something beautiful and amazing!   But right now, all we have is “pieces.”    God wants us to put some effort into it.

We will need to specifically set aside time to focus and work on our life.   We will need to read the instruction manual for life (aka:  the Bible), so we will know what we are supposed to do.

We will need to not give up when we can’t figure things out.   We will need to keep persevering.

Did you notice in the photo that the bags of pieces are numbered?

You assemble Bag #1 first.   All the pieces for Bag #1 are in Bag #1.

If you don’t pay attention and dump out all the bags together, it will cause it to be a lot more difficult for yourself.

So also, when it comes to life, some things in this life which God has specifically designed for each of us are in specific seasons (or we could say “Bags”), which are labeled #1, #2, etc. …

We might want to “dump out all the bags together”  …  or we might want to assemble Bag #2 first.

But there are things which God wants to teach us in one season in our life, which will then become the foundation for things which we will “build on” as we grow and mature in life.   We need “Bag #1” first, to prepare us for “Bag #2” which will come later in the next season of life.

The things which you are going through right now in life are specifically designed by God as part of the “overall design” of your life.   You need this season (aka:  Bag #1) right now.

And after this season of your life has been “put together”  …  you can then move to the next season of life (aka:  Bag #2)  …  as the creative masterpiece of your life comes together, slowly, bit by bit.

Your life is a masterpiece of design!    God has something amazing and beautiful that he is building out of your life.

We can’t see it right now.   All we can see are “bags” of “pieces.”

But we have to trust that God is making something beautiful of our life.   We have to invest the time to “build” with the “pieces” God has given us.

We have to trust that “Bag #1” has all the pieces we need for this particular season of life we are in.   And when we complete “Bag #1”  …  God will give us “Bag #2” for the next phase of our life.

We must read the “instruction manual” – be diligent and faithful to follow God’s Word.

We must persevere and not give up when we get discouraged and can’t figure things out.

If you feel like your life is “in pieces” take heart!   That’s exactly the way it’s supposed to be.

The whole joy of life is the experience of “building it” and “putting it together!”   And then taking delight as we discover the beautiful masterpiece which is coming together, bit by bit, piece by piece.
