The Fruit of the Spirit is KINDNESS.
Our background photo for today shows a headlamp brilliantly illuminating the path forward. As is clearly obvious, the past is in the past … left behind, in the dark. The future is brilliantly illuminated, revealing which way to go. This is a great picture of the KINDNESS of FORGIVENESS!
God Himself states: “I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (Hebrews 8:12 / Jeremiah 31:34b)
God LOVES us and FORGIVES us!
Furthermore, God wants us to be just like Him!
Ephesians 5:1-2 tells us: “Be imitators of God … and live a life of LOVE, just as Christ LOVED us and gave Himself up for us.” God’s greatest act of KINDNESS is FORGIVENESS. God wants us to demonstrate the KINDNESS of FORGIVENESS also!
How do we do that?? By the power of the Holy Spirit!
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3)
Holy Spirit KINDNESS in our life will look very much like today’s background photo. Just as God has FORGIVEN us, so also the Holy Spirit will give us the ability to FORGIVE others. By the Holy Spirit’s power we will be able to let offenses go, leaving the past in the past (in the dark). And as a result, the LIGHT of Jesus will brilliantly illuminate the path forward, revealing which way to go. This is what the KINDNESS of FORGIVENESS looks like!
The KINDNESS of FORGIVENESS is so radical that it can’t help but radically illuminate the path we are walking! … thereby giving illumination to all who are walking life’s path with us!
The Fruit of the Spirit KINDNESS illuminates the dark path of life, in order to lead people to Jesus!
