From the outside looking in …

From the outside looking in …

Hubby built me a new planter for summer.   I’m thrilled!

He had been puttering about in the workshop this past winter, figuring out a creative way to make a planter box out of leftover decking material and leftover metal roofing panels.

Voila!  His masterpiece!

He made four different sections, so I can plant Basil, Cilantro, and Parsley.   And in the remaining extra section, I decided to plant Poppy seeds (from a very special someone in Idaho)!

I am particularly delighted with my new planter box because I can stand up straight and do whatever I would like with it.  No need to bend over.

Additionally, it is tall enough that when the Basil, Cilantro, Parsley, and Poppies grow into a sea of greenery and blooms this summer we will be able to see them from inside the house.   It’s going to be so pretty!

As hubby and I were working with the planter box, getting the section dividers screwed into place and the impervious plastic-y fabric liner in place  …  I noticed, through the living room windows, a huge, gigantic dead mosquito in one of the windowsills behind the couch!

There’s a huge, gigantic dead mosquito in my window and I had no idea!

How long has that huge, gigantic dead mosquito been there??

I vacuum the house every week  …  but I don’t vacuum out the windowsills.

It’s amazing the things you can discover from the outside looking in!

From my “inside perspective” my living room has been neat and tidy.  No dead bugs hanging out anywhere.

But from the outside looking in, I was suddenly aware of things which I didn’t realize before.

This exact same thing is true when it comes to our life.   From our own personal “inside perspective” we might think we are doing pretty great.   We feel good about our life.

But those who are closest to us have a different view of our life than we do.

Those who love us and are closest to us have a view “from the outside looking in.”

And from their view they can see things which we aren’t aware of.   They can see that the decision we just made isn’t the best decision for us.   They can see how the decision we just made will actually cause us grief and problems later on down the road.

They can see character flaws in our life which we aren’t aware of.

They can see things of our life which are “huge, gigantic dead mosquitoes” lying around in hidden corners.

These character flaws, etc. – if we knew about them, we would not want them to be there in our life.  (any more than the “huge, gigantic dead mosquito lying around”)   We would want to know about those things in our life which need some attention!   So that we could do something about it!

Who in your life has a view from the outside looking in??

They can see things about your life which you can’t see from your “inside perspective.”

When those who love us and are closest to us mention things which they see in our life which might need some attention  …  it is important that we are open and teachable to what they have to share.   This is for our benefit!   This will help us!

The view “from the outside looking in” is very important!

We all need someone else’s view “from the outside looking in”!
