Date-Night Dinner by the Waterfall!

Date-Night Dinner by the Waterfall!

Due to a series of last-minute coincidences, hubby and I found ourselves headed to a Couples Date-Night Dinner by the Waterfall yesterday evening.   Imagine  …  a fancy dinner, underneath twinkling lights, the waterfall lit with a spotlight, and live harp/piano musical entertainment.

But …  the thing is, it’s the Pacific Northwest and it’s January 3rd.   Meaning –  it’s 40 degrees and raining!   It’s always raining in the winter in the Pacific Northwest!

Hubby and I couldn’t help thinking:  “This should be an entertaining adventure!”

Everyone attending the dinner event received a memo yesterday letting us know it’s probably not a good idea to wear heels or fancy dinner attire.  Not to worry!   Hubby and I planned on layering-up in our winter parkas, with our hand warmers!   This should be an entertaining adventure!   We were both looking forward to seeing how this all turned out!   How exactly is harp-playing going to go in the rain at 40 degrees??   This is going to be interesting!

Not gonna lie … I was a bit intrepid all day yesterday about our upcoming adventure  –  seeing as how it rained all day yesterday!   But when it came time to leave for the event  …  the rain stopped.

It was a 1 ½ hr. drive to the venue, and when we arrived the setting was absolutely magical!   The live harp/piano music, set against the backdrop of the waterfall, was perfect!    I was so thankful hubby and I had grabbed the impromptu spur-of-the-moment opportunity we had been given!

The table on the right is where hubby and I sat.

Here you can see my view as I sat at our dinner table.

My daughter’s friends are brilliantly entrepreneurial and this Date-Night Dinner by the Waterfall was a Beta trial-run to see if this might be a business venture they might want to pursue.   There were a total of 10 tables – so the maximum availability was for 10 couples.   The night before one of the couples had to drop out and were not able to come.   So, my daughter’s friends thought of us and offered the spot to us instead.

.

I’m so glad I didn’t say “No” simply because I was worried of getting drenched in the rain and chilled by the cold.   Much to my astonishment, it didn’t rain the entire event!   Not even a tiny little sprinkle!

My immediate “blink” reaction when it comes to situations outside my “comfort zone” has been to instinctively say “No.”   But I’m trying hard to retrain my mind to instinctively say “Yes” instead.   To make a point to grab the opportunities that arise!

Adventures are out there  …  just waiting for us to say “Yes!”   Adventures by waterfalls, in the dark, with the high likelihood of rain, at dinnertime!   All we have to do is say “Yes”  …  and grab the opportunity!

What adventures are out there just waiting for you to say “Yes” to?
