This past Sunday was December 1st … and ushering in the Holiday Season, we sang these three fantastic songs at church!
The first song is one I am familiar with from past Christmases. The other two songs are brand-new to me this year! I absolutely love all three! They have become my “repeat” Christmas songs this year! And, the lineup for my “Top Hits” list for Best Christmas songs of 2024!
Starting off … we have He Shall Reign Forevermore, by Chris Tomlin. This week everything has been socked in with thick heavy fog! I went to go get the mail Monday evening, and as I gazed at this scene down the road from the mailboxes, the opening line of this song popped into my head: “In the bleak midwinter …”

This next wonderful new Christmas song incorporates the familiar line of: “Go tell it, on the mountain …”
As I sang this song in church this past Sunday, I wondered what it would look like to actually “Go tell it on the mountain.” This is the scene which popped into my head.
Yes … here we are, high up on the flanks of Mt. Rainier! The perfect image for “Go tell it on the mountain!” And if we are going to be able to “tell it on the mountain” there needs to be people around. Ah yes … as you can see, people are indeed present!
