The third week of July, these plums were hanging heavy on the tree … ripe and ready for harvest.
But what if the third week of July isn’t convenient for harvesting the plums? What if there are too many other things going on? What if there just isn’t time?? What if we just don’t feel like it??
The third week of July … one week out of the entire year … just one week, maybe a little more … then the opportunity is gone!
The same thing is true spiritually speaking.
All year long we abide in the vine (John 15:5-8) … day in, day out. All year long the Holy Spirit is working in our lives to produce Kingdom Fruit … day in, day out. But there are certain “windows of opportunity” for fruit-bearing that only come once. And when they are gone, they are gone forever.
Ephesians 2:10 states: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
There are certain “good works” (aka – fruit-bearing) that God has prepared specifically for us to do. Certain divine “windows of opportunity” that will only come once … and when they are gone, they are gone forever.
