The sun came out today! “Yay!”
It has been so long since I have seen blue skies and sunshine!
Is that not beautiful! I was in awe of how absolutely beautiful the sunshine was!
There is something about sunshine which gives you insta-energy! After not seeing the sun in forever, I suddenly felt a million times better today! It was astonishing how much better I instantly felt! And I had insta-energy to go conquer, which I didn’t have before. “Yay!” for sunshine!
My daughter texted and asked if I would like to hang out together during her lunch break. Of course!! “Yay!!”
We moseyed around Costco for fun. And in typical Costsco fashion, I went in with the intention of getting cucumbers … and came out with a shopping cart full of “everything else.” Ha!
And just look at that beautiful blue sky! Once again – “Yay!” for sunshine!
When I got back home after my daughter-hangout-time, I noticed there was a small patch of sunshine on my back deck. Immediately I grabbed my little beach chair and set it in the small patch of sunshine. “Yay!” for sunshine!! (if you live someplace where you see the sun often, don’t take it for granted!)
The small patch of sunshine lasted the exact amount of time it took for me to eat my tiny little orange. “Yay!” for snacks outside in the fresh air and beautiful sunshine!
Lo and behold … look what I discovered! Little Daffodils sprouts are starting to come up! “Yay!!”
Just look at that beautiful row of little green shoots popping up through the dirt!
For me, personally, I find this to be a perfect picture of what “Hope” looks like. Hope that winter won’t last forever. Hope that Spring is coming! Hope of new life!
I’m in awe at how God designed the little shoots to be like thin tapered arrowheads, able to pierce up through the heavy dirt & layers of decaying leaf litter.
True hope is honest! True hope recognizes that we haven’t yet had snow or super cold weather … and the snow & super cold weather will probably be coming. And yet, hope is tenacious!
Just like these little Daffodil shoots are hardy and tenacious in order to “weather” the weather that is coming … so also hope is hardy and tenacious in order to “weather” whatever “weather” (life’s “snow” and “icy cold storms”) which comes.
A quote in my journal states: “Hope resembles courage more than cheerfulness.”
Yes … these little Daffodil shoots – picturing “Hope” – are indeed a perfect picture of courage as well!
And so, I take a lesson from these tenacious little Daffodil sprouts as I likewise strive to have courageous hope as well!
What “Yay!” has God blessed you with today?
“This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
