I was sitting in the beanbag enjoying my peanut-butter-banana smoothie for lunch, while absentmindedly staring out the window … when it suddenly occurred to me how the enormous Big-Leaf Maple in the backyard is a remarkable picture of what marriage is like.
When you look at the photo of the Big-Leaf Maple, what you see is one tree.
There is one leafy canopy-crown.
There is one massive root structure beneath the ground.
But if you look closely at the trunk, you will notice there are two leader trunks. (Big-Leaf Maples are notorious for having multiple leader trunks)
This is what marriage is like: one unified marriage … comprised of two distinctly individual people (husband and wife).
