I was sitting at the dining room table having lunch yesterday when there went Squirrelina up the siding and onto the roof!
I was pretty sure she was only eating seeds from off the roof, but a tiny worry made me wonder if perhaps she had found some sort of gap in the metal roofing panels and perhaps she might be preparing a nursery for her babies. Oh dear! That would not do!
Right away I hopped up and scurried upstairs to look out the bedroom window to see if I could see what she was up to.
Nothing at all on the roof.
Oh … wait a minute! There’s a set of tiny little ears poking up over that far ridge line.
A few seconds later Squirrelina’s little head poked up! She saw me standing there in the window watching for her … and she knew she had been caught red-handed!

It was ok though. She was only eating maple seeds as I had suspected.
I had the best time hanging out and watching Squirrelina! I even got some great close-up shots!

But gotta be on the lookout for that red-tailed hawk!

All of the sudden Squirrelina went clabbering in frantic desperation, slipping and sliding all over the metal roofing panels! No grip at all on those things! She clabbered up to the closest ridge-line and flung herself over! And at that very moment an enormous red-tailed hawk sailed low and slow directly overhead! How did Squirrelina know the hawk was that close by?? I’m glad she was safe!
A few minutes later up she came again … whew! Gotta keep a close watch! I guess way up high on the roof isn’t as safe as I had assumed.
Thank you God for springtime joys!
