Cape Flattery Lighthouse seems so far away.

Have you ever felt “so far away”?
When it comes to the relationships in our life it’s easy to “drift apart.” Our schedules are so busy! The demands weighing on us are many! We only ever see each other coming and going. Before we know it, we have “drifted apart” from each other.
That special someone whom we care so deeply about feels about as far away as the lighthouse in the photo. We long for closeness … but we feel so very far away!
The same thing is true when it comes to our relationships with our kids. The school years are busy! It feels like our kids have a million things going on! Coming and going. Driving them here, driving them there. Then, they get their license. And we hardly ever see them anymore. We feel so far away!
Then our kids head off to college. We hardly ever see them. They graduate and get their own job … and their own place. We hardly ever see them. They’re super busy with their friends and commitments.
And we feel so far away!
Love reaches out!
Love is action!
If we just sit here doing nothing the distance will only grow. Love reaches out! Love crosses the distance! Love closes the gap!
Yes, it takes effort to reach out! But that’s what love does! … because love is tenacious! Yes, it takes effort to cross the distance! But that’s what love does! … because love is tenacious!
Life keeps us all so busy and distracted that usually the thought doesn’t even occur to us to reach out. But “reaching out” is the key to keeping relationships close. Even if the one we care about doesn’t respond or reach back … they know that we are there for them! They know that we love them! And knowing this keeps the relational “flame” alive in their soul … until one day, they do reach back!
Love reaches out!
Love crosses the distance!
Love closes the gap!
Love is action!
“Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” – James 2:17
“As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.” – James 2:26
