This week the beautiful full moon has been reflecting off the brilliant-white snow blanketing everything … meaning, the nighttime has been very bright!
Each evening, as hubby and I have turned off all the lights to head to bed, outside the world has been almost as bright as day. It’s been incredible! I’ve never seen anything quite like it before.
I stepped outside last night to see if my phone would be able to capture the incredible brightness of the snow reflecting the moon’s brilliance. My phone is not fancy-shmancy … but lo and behold, it did a pretty good job of picking up the brightness of the night. I was delighted.
Psalm 23 and the thought of Jesus being my good shepherd has been on my mind recently. What a great image for Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley … I will not fear, for you Jesus are with me.”
Hubby’s phone is a lot more fancy-schmancy than mine. Check out the amazing photos hubby was able to get of the brightness of night, from the moon snow glow! You can even see a few stars! … and that big swath of clouds which didn’t show up at all in my photos. Incredible!
Here is my own personal paraphrase of Psalm 23:4 – “Even though I walk through the utter darkness of a bitterly cold night … I will not fear, for you Jesus are the brilliant moon lighting up the darkness!” [aka: you Jesus are here with me bringing light to this really hard time I’m going through!]
I wanted to pair this verse with the photo hubby took because you can clearly see footprints in the snow in hubby’s photo … “Even though I walk through the utter darkness of a bitterly cold night – I will not fear, for you Jesus are with me! You Jesus are the brilliant moon lighting up my path that I’m travelling through this dark valley of night.”
“It is you God who lights my lamp [aka: you God are my brilliant moon!]; the LORD my God lightens my darkness.” – Psalm 18:28
“You O LORD are my lamp [aka: my brilliant moon!]; the LORD turns my darkness into light.” – 2 Samuel 22:29
“If I say, ‘Surely the darkness will hide me’ … even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.” – Psalm 139:11-12
Thank you Jesus that even though we will inevitably go through dark valleys in life, and we will inevitably walk through bitterly cold nights during our “journey” through this life … thank you Jesus that you are with us! Thank you Jesus that you are right there beside us each step we take in the crunchy frozen snow!
Thank you Jesus that you are holding our hand! Thank you Jesus that you are calming our fears!
Thank you Jesus that you are providing for us! Thank you Jesus that you are taking good care of us!
And … thank you Jesus for being the light that illuminates each step along the way!
