Snowy morning glory!

Snowy morning glory!

I woke up this morning and I did not have anything at all to share for the blog post today.

I sat at the dining room table sipping my hot coco for breakfast, having a conversation with God: “God, please give me something for the blog today.”

Nothing.

The time of “sunrise” came and went. There was no sunrise today. The sky was heavy with snow clouds.

I was still sitting at the dining table, in the middle of listening to an online sermon, when suddenly the sky outside came alive with a brilliant yellow glow radiating through the dense clouds!

Oh! There’s God’s gift to me!

God’s got something to give me for the blog!

As the last 10 minutes of the online sermon wrapped up, I got my coat and shoes on and headed out to see what God had for me.

Halfway down the road to the crest of the hill … Whoa! There’s the sun!! Oh isn’t it beautiful!

I reached the crest of the hill … and there, you could actually see the Cascades peeking through! I was in awe of the beauty!

And look! … there’s even a tiny bit of blue sky peeking through way up there!

I walked a few steps further down the hill … and just stood in the awe of the snowy morning glory!

A very light snow flurry was falling. I wished my phone could pick it up, but it was beautiful the little sparkling snow flurries floating down gently as I stood there in the sunshine!

When you don’t get to see the sun very often, a chance like this is priceless! I stood in the quiet stillness of the morning, turning my face up to the warmth of the glorious sun (as little snowflakes landed on my face) and soaking in the healing life-giving sunshine!

What a gift! Thank you God!

Up on the crest of the hill where I was standing all was perfectly still and silent. But far away in the distance, down in the valley, you could hear cars and trucks going up and down the state route.

Here you can see down the hill into the valley. Right in the very center of the photo is where you could see the traffic on the state route far below. And that swath of dark crossing the center of the photo is the foothills of the Cascades coming down into the valley.

One last photo before heading back. (my toes were starting to get cold)

Here is the exact same view heading back as I shared in yesterday’s blog post. But it is completely different today!

I couldn’t help thinking: Isn’t that the way each day is. Each new day that God gives us to live is completely different from the day before. Just like the above photo – same view, yet completely different!

The opportunities God gives us today are completely different from the opportunities God gave us yesterday. What we accomplish with our life today is completely different from what we accomplished with our life yesterday.

The people God has put in our life for us to love well have completely different needs today from the needs, concerns, and burdens they had yesterday. (yes, many are the same … but they’re different at the same time) Therefore, our prayers for the people God has given us to love are different, calling down the power of God differently today from yesterday.

The people God brings into our life to encourage and work alongside today are going to have different needs from the people God brought into our life yesterday.

The praise we give God today is different from the praise we gave God yesterday.

Thank you God for the gift of snowy morning glory which you gave us all for today’s blog post! We are truly grateful!
