I had made a gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free pumpkin pie for our Thanksgiving celebrations. But in a last-minute moment of great worry that it might not actually be tasty, I decided perhaps we should have an apple pie on hand as well.
So, this past weekend found hubby and me driving down the valley to pick up an apple pie from the best pie place around! – Remlinger Farms.
As we neared the Farm, we passed two or three catchy purple signs advertising: “Goat Hugs $5.”
My immediate “blink” reaction was: “Those lucky people who own the goats. They can get free goat hugs anytime they want!”
Then it suddenly occurred to me – I can get free hugs anytime I want! I might not have goats, but I’ve got hubby! And I’ve got my precious daughter! And my wonderful son and his wife! I can be wrapped up in free hugs anytime I want!
Have you ever thought to be grateful for the “free hugs” in your life? To be honest, I haven’t. Not really.
I’m ashamed to admit that I have been taking my “free hugs” for granted.
What about “free hugs” from our precious pets? Doggie hugs … and kitty hugs … and even bunny hugs! Those are at least worth $5 per hug!
Thank you God for all the wonderful “free hugs” you have given us in our life! Thank you for the hugs from our precious family! Thank you for the hugs from those whom we love! Thank you for the “free hugs” from our furry friends!
And thank you God for pie! As you can see, hubby and I wound up coming home with two pies! One for Thanksgiving Dinner … and one for later! Yay us!
Gratitude … for hugs! And pie!
