Sin starts out small … like a tiny little mite on a mint leaf. It’s so tiny we don’t even notice it.
But sin doesn’t stay small. It multiplies. It grows. Before we know it, the sin in our lives looks like these mites all over these mint leaves. Portions of the mint leaf have been completely eaten away. These mint leaves are no longer good for anything. They cannot be used to make mint-tea. They cannot be added to a cool refreshing lemonade on a hot summer day.
Does our Kingdom Fruit look like this? Do we have sin in our lives that is eating away our Kingdom Fruit? Is our Kingdom Fruit useless, just like these mite-covered mint leaves are useless?
God has provided a cure for this problem in nature … ladybugs eat mites.
The same is true in our spiritual lives … the Holy Spirit points out the sin in our lives! The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin. The Holy Spirit reproves us of sin. (John 16:8-11) The Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus who can cleanse us of the sin. The Holy Spirit restores us back into right relationship with the Father.
Matthew 5:8 – “Blessed are the pure heart.” This can only be accomplished by the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives!
