Grocery store joys! #2

Grocery store joys! #2

My daughter needed a tablecloth, so I pulled out my bag with all my kitchen linens and tablecloths.   Immediately I knew we needed to have a second “Grocery store joys” blog post!

Reusable shopping bags!

Reusable shopping bags bring me so much joy!

Several years ago, my state passed legislation with the goal of reducing the amount of plastic shopping bags which are used.    If we would like a plastic shopping bag for our grocery purchases, we are charged a fee of 8 cents for every plastic shopping bag we use.

This legislation had its desired effect.    People started using their own reusable shopping bags.    (we are saving the planet! … one shopping bag at a time!  Haha!)

And as a result, a unique and varied selection of reusable shopping bags became available for purchase.    Here, there, and just about everywhere you can find reusable shopping bags for sale.

The bag pictured in the above photo is one of my favorites!    What a cool reusable shopping bag!    So Pacific Northwest!    I couldn’t help but wonder if other cities have famous regional/city landmarks on their reusable shopping bags which are for sale in their grocery stores.    Does your city?

I am so delighted with this cool reusable shopping bag that I don’t dare actually use it as a shopping bag.    I might accidentally damage it.    It’s not all that sturdy.    Therefore I store my kitchen linens and tablecloths in it  …  and it brings me great joy whenever I see it!

Here is another grocery shopping bag which I absolutely love  …  but don’t dare actually use as a shopping bag, for fear of damaging it.    My son gave me this particular shopping bag.

Both my son and I love Strange Planet cartoons!    We think the wordplay is so witty and clever!   And how totally appropriate that the cartoon on this shopping bag is making fun of all of us who try to carry our entire grocery store purchases into the house in one trip  …  “I need the thrill of efficiency.”    Haha!

Here you can see the reusable shopping bag which I actually use when I go to the grocery store.    This shopping bag brings me much joy too!    Because hubby and I got this bag last summer when we participated in the filming of the Chosen’s Feeding of the 5,000.

I love to use this as my grocery shopping bag because it represents not only how Jesus fed the hungry crowd of 5,000  …  but right now, as I go grocery shopping, Jesus is feeding me and hubby too!    I just love that parallel.

This grocery shopping bag is nice sturdy canvas, so it holds a lot of weight.   Which is great!    And the big bold numbers of 5 & 2  …  this represent that Jesus used 5 loaves and 2 fish.    If you zoom in and look closely at the “&” symbol  …  a tiny little fish is in the top portion, and the bottom has a little loaf of bread.   So clever!

Here you can see the reusable grocery shopping bag which is in hubby’s car.    Is this not the greatest bag ever!    Hubby and I picked up this shopping bag a few weeks ago when we visited our very dear friends in Alaska.    Not only does this shopping bag have a fabulous map of the entire state of Alaska  …  but the Safeway grocery stores are also marked, for our convenience!    That way, if we find ourselves way up in North Pole, Alaska, and needing to stop by the grocery store  …  we now know there is  Safeway there!   Handiness!

And speaking of Alaska, here is another reusable shopping bag gem we found while we were there!    We had popped into Bass Pro Shops for a quick pit-stop, and wound up coming out an hour later with this reusable shopping bag  (piled with fabulous warm winter sweaters … Ha!).   I absolutely love the quote on this bag!  “Adventures start  …  where plans end.”

There are so many joys to be found when going to the grocery store!    What about you?    Do you use reusable shopping bags when you go to the grocery store?   Or perhaps, do you have reusable shopping bags which are just way too cool to use  …  like me?

Maybe your state hasn’t banned plastic shopping bags yet  …  and maybe, after this blog post, you are now wishing they would, so that you too could have such a unique and varied selection of reusable shopping bags to enjoy.    Haha!

Thank you God for grocery store joys!
