As I mentioned yesterday, hubby and I have been going outside each evening to work on splitting logs. And because the mosquitoes are so bad, I have been donning my own unique type of insect- repellent: my lightweight rain jacket.
The only reason I even consider wearing my lightweight rain jacket is because … it’s lightweight. It is light and airy and breathable.
When it comes to relationships, a key factor in relationships is that they need to be “breathable!” Give the other person “breathing space” to be themself.
What does “breathing space” look like? It looks like grace, covering over those annoying things which drive you crazy! “Breathing space” looks like letting-the-little-things-go.
Will there be some annoying things which need a serious discussion? Totally. Some annoying things simply cannot be overlooked. They must be dealt with.
But many other annoying things can be covered over. Let the little things go.
A really great relationship is not heavy or suffocating … it is not controlling or demanding. It is light and comfortable … just like my lightweight rain jacket.
A great relationship is “breathable.”
