I am intrigued by 1 Chronicles 12:32.
The entire passage of 1 Chronicles chapter 12 is an account of all the warriors who joined David’s army while he was on the run from King Saul. Tucked away in the middle of a tally-list of numbers and various family groups is verse 32: “ … men of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel should do …”
Our background photo for today was taken while driving across the Great Plains. It is clearly obvious a big storm is imminent. The path forward lies in the storm. There is nothing to be done but face the storm.
This is currently where we find ourselves in life. A big storm is looming just ahead … imminent. The path forward lies in the storm. There is nothing we can do but face the storm.
We find ourselves asking the question: How do I prepare for the impending storm??
Let us seek to be like the men of Issachar, who understood their times and knew the wise thing to do.
* James 1:5 – “If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
* Psalm 112:4,7-8 – “Even in darkness light dawns for the upright … he will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear.”
* Psalm 27:5 – “For in the day of trouble He will keep me safe in His dwelling; He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.”
* Isaiah 26:3 – “You, God, will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in You.”
