Shadow Fears

Shadow Fears

I was sitting in the beanbag calmly enjoying my peanut-butter-banana smoothie for lunch, when my attention was caught by the shadows near my feet.

Rather scary-looking shadows … don’t you think?

The sharp points of the shadows look as if they could be a scary creature with pointy horns or menacing claws which could do some sort of damage.

My gaze traveled up to the aloe which was casting the shadows … a perfectly harmless aloe, simply minding its own business and growing, vibrant-green in the sunshine.  It had no dangerous barbs or quills … it wasn’t in the least bit threatening.  In fact, aloe is known for being a healing plant.

I pondered the scary-looking shadows … and I could hear God speaking to my soul:  Do not fear.

There are a lot of “shadow fears” in my heart right now.

God is so good!

Sitting in my beanbag enjoying my smoothie for lunch, God spoke comfort straight to my heart –  Do not be afraid.

Isaiah 43:1-3 – “This is what the LORD says – He who created you, He who formed you:  Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.  For I am the LORD, your God … your Savior.”
