It was so hot!!
Bottled water was freely available. All we needed to do was go to the “drink tent” and take however many bottles of water we needed.
Throughout the day all of us were vigilant to stay hydrated. We downed thousands of bottles of water! We added packets of electrolytes! But by our final filming session, in the late afternoon, we were all on the brink of heat exhaustion!
Our faces were flushed, and with lagging steps all 5,000 of us wearily made our way over to the filming field. We sat on our blankets and mats with shoulders slumped, and a few just laid back on the grass … almost passed out from the heat.
In between takes, while the film crew was setting up each new shot, volunteers in bright blue T-shirts roamed throughout the crowd passing out bottles of water to whoever needed some.
All we had to do was ask … just wave our hand … and water was freely handed to us.
Water … to keep us from passing out.
Water … to revive us.
Water … to meet our desperate need.
Water … freely given.
All we had to do was ask … and it was freely given.
I couldn’t help but think of Psalm 63:1- “O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You … in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”
Matthew 7:7 – “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
