My path has led me
to the edge of the sea.
I’m trapped.
Disaster is closing in behind me.
I’m filled with fear!
I don’t know what to do.
Stormy, rough waters
are all that’s in my view.
Angry waves
splash and chill to the bone.
I’m exhausted and weak.
I feel so alone.
The wind roars in fury,
a fearsome blast,
as I gaze at the sea
blocking my path.
My thoughts are a jumble …
like this stormy sea.
My emotions are a tempest
inside of me!
My mind’s filled with worry.
I’m gripped with fear!
In desperate confusion
I wonder how I got here.
I search for a truth
that I can cling to …
“God, you said you are faithful.
God, you said you are good.”
“God, you said you would be there
if I cry out.
I need you! God help me!”
I desperately shout.
“God, help me! Please help me!”
I cry through my tears,
as I stand and gaze
into the face of my fears.
Then through the fierce tempest,
and the storm raging loud,
God comes to me …
riding on the clouds.
I raise my hands …
just like a small child,
reaching up to my Father,
through the storm raging wild.
On the wind that He rides,
a melody is heard …
a melody in the storm,
that just needs some words …
“God, you are good!
God, you are true!
God, I know this sea
you can bring me through.”
“God, you are faithful!
God, you are kind!
God, I know a path
through this sea you can find.”
“God, you are loving!
God, you are strong!
God, I choose
to sing you a song.”
So, I lift up my voice,
shaky and small
to sing a song of praise
in the face of this all.
“I praise you God,
because you’re strong to save!
I praise you God,
because you can make a way.”
“I praise you God,
for all the times in the past
when I faced other trials
and didn’t think I’d last.”
“I praise you God,
for leading me here!
I praise you God,
for taking my fear!”
I sing as the wind
blows spray in my face.
I sing even louder
my song of praise!
“God, I trust that
you can bring me though!
God, I know this storm
is nothing to you.”
As I sing, my Abba Father
takes my hand,
steadying me on my feet,
helping me stand.
With my Father’s hand
holding tightly to mine,
I take a step …
and firm footing I find.
I keep my eyes locked
on my Father’s gaze.
I keep on singing
my song of praise!
Step by step …
my Father and me
walk through a path
that parts in the sea.
Step by step …
holding Father’s hand,
He walks with me
on firm stable land.
Step by step …
waters piled on each side,
Father comforts me
and wipes the tears that I cried.
Step by step …
Father walks me through
the raging wild sea
that was blocking my view.
Father leads me out
on the other side.
Onlookers watch …
with eyes popping wide.
“Did that really happen??”
in shock, they all say.
“Did your Father just come?
and through the storm make a way??”
“Your Father is so loving.
Your Father is so kind.
I sure wish an Abba Father’s
love I could find.”
So I tell them about Him! …
I tell of His care.
I tell how He loves
everyone, everywhere!
I tell them how He
can be their Abba Father too.
And it was all because
of this storm He brought me through.
Thank you, Father,
for making a way!
Thank you, Father,
for a song of praise!
Thank you, Father,
that others could see,
so that Abba Father
to them you could be.
