The Fruit of the Spirit is FAITHFULNESS.
Yesterday we considered that God’s FAITHFULNESS upholds and sustains everything in nature.
* “Your FAITHFULNESS continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures.” -Psalm 119:90
That’s great. Nature will continue to do what it’s always done.
But what about everyday life?? What about the hard, nitty gritty, day-to-day, just trying to make it through?? There is no faithfulness in our world. We can’t count on anything anymore, or anyone anymore. There is no standard. All the rules keep changing.
There is nothing we can be sure of. It feels as if all of life is lost in fog … just like our background photo for today!
We find ourselves feeling fearful … anxious about the scary unknowns just up ahead, just out of sight. Frightening uncertainty hidden in fog!
God is there! God is there in the fog up ahead … God is there in the uncertain, scary future we cannot see. We have to trust! We have to trust our FAITHFUL God to take care of us!
“He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His FAITHFULNESS will be your shield…” -Psalm 91:4
“Because of the LORD’s great LOVE we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your FAITHFULNESS.” -Lamentations 3:22-23
* God’s FAITHFULNESS will cover and protect us!
* God’s FAITHFULNESS is new every day, for every circumstance and every situation we face! God is FAITHFUL! We can trust Him!
By the power of the Holy Spirit, we have FAITH to trust our FAITHFUL God, no matter the scary uncertainty. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, the very FAITHFULNESS of God Himself flows in and though our lives to others.
The fruit of the Spirit is FAITHFULNESS.
